What is the Spirit Airlines 311 Rule? [ Complete Guide]

Spirit Airlines follows 311 rules to make the trip more convenient. For example, you can bring a quart-sized bag of liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes in your carry-on bag through the checkpoint. However, the liquid must be stored in containers limited to 3.4 ounces (100 ml ), and these containers must be stored in separate bags from your carry-on bag, which will facilitate the screening process.

Carry-on Baggage:

According to Spirit Airlines 311 rules, Passengers are advised to carry liquids in 100 ml or smaller containers that can easily fit in a quart-sized bag. This will facilitate the screening process, as the liquid containers must be kept in the tray. Therefore, Medicine and infant and child nourishment are exempted from this rule.

Checked Baggage:

However, suppose the containers are more significant than 100 ml instead of the size issued under Airline 311 rules. In that case, passengers are advised to carry them in their Checked luggage to avoid inconvenience during the security screening process.

Rules for Duty-Free Liquids in International Flight:

Spirit Airlines lets their traveler carry duty-free liquids of more than 100 ml in a carry bag under a few circumstances listed below.
  • If you are travelling to the United States with Connecting Flights, you can bring purchased duty-free liquids in a carry-on.
  • To facilitate the TSA screening, it would be best if the retailer packed the liquids in a secure, transparent or tamper-evident bag.
  • For a hassle-free screening, passengers must have the original receipt for the liquids purchased, and the purchase must have been made within 48 hours of the flight.
Note: Spirit Airlines recommends that all liquids, gels, and aerosols that exceed the container limit of more than 100 ml be packed in the checked luggage, and a tamper-evident bag must be packed.
